About Me
For most of the year, I write from a desk in my high-rise Milwaukee condo, overlooking Lake Michigan. At any moment, I can watch the sun, clouds, and wind create changing patterns on the water. The view is stimulating to creativity, and I only hope my work occasionally does it justice.
My husband and I moved downtown a few years ago, and we are shocked - shocked, I tell you -- to find we are part of a growing trend. Oh, dear, to think anything I did could be termed "trendy!" Here I am writing stories set two hundred years ago in England - "trendy" is not what comes to mind.
We are very fortunate in that our two sons and their wives live nearby, in the same zip code as a matter of fact. Our adorable grandson, going on three, can visit frequently, which makes us among the luckiest of grandparents.
A few of the facts: I was born and raised in Elgin, Illinois; graduated from Northwestern University and received a Master's from The American University in Washington, D. C., where I met my husband while we both worked for the Voice of America. Check it out!
After moving to Milwaukee, my husband worked for a radio-tv station and I had several positions at local universities while raising our two sons. Later, I worked at the Milwaukee Art Museum, just across the park from our current residence. The museum has a spectacular new wing, by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava.
Throughout my childhood and teen years, I spent my summers at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Here are two looks (here and here) at that beautiful spot which is so rich in history:
We like to spend time away from Wisconsin's cold winters, usually in Naples or Fort Myers, Florida.
I have written eight regency romances for Kensington-Zebra and three novellas. In 1983, I published my first novel, co-written with a close friend, with Pocket Books, entitled Birthrights.
The regencies are all here on my website, with their covers and excerpts.
I love travel, particularly to England. I also love to write articles about my travels and some of these are included on this website, along with a selection of my pictures. Visit Regency England and Bath with me, or Regency Savannah, Georgia. Soon I hope to share some of my collection of early 19th century fashion prints from La Belle Assemblee and Ackermann's Repository, two popular magazines from the early 1800's..
I am a member of the Jane Austen Society of North America.
I am also a member of the Romance Writers of America.
I belong to several of its chapters:
The Beau Monde
Kiss of Death
Wisconsin RWA
Southwest Florida RWA
